The Industrial Revolution brought the opening of the
Orient to the West. The lighting was meant to evoke cherry blossoms and rice
paper, bamboo screens and the powdered faces of geishas, while still fitting
into the Gilbert and Sullivan style of the song "Two Asian Ladies".
