Slave Show

We had daily educational programs after that. But the most ridiculous was the SLAVE SHOW staged for the Union troops by McClellan. They were all actors, brought in to entertain and give us a sense of what this was all about. Well, you could have fooled me. The performers consisted of a BLACK WOMAN dancing with Death on a trampoline and all around them were raccoons chasing hens, a nude WHITE GUY on a black horse, a PHEASANT just running and an ALLIGATOR after a "runaway slave". Is this what slavery was all about? Why were the FIRST PENNSYLVANIA SOLDIERS guarding us from them? I don't know. It's all too confusing.
