Hi Keith,

Just surfed in... Looking for ideas and maybe something new about histo.

I am from the Netherlands, 24 female with histo spot, though I've never

been near the "Histo Belt".

It's a strange world...

In feb.1993 I was operated on as the 5th person in Holland. My sight was

at that time 2% in my left eye. Mu right eye was all right. After

surgery it was 70%!!!!! (and more important I lost the headache I had

had day and night)

They told me I had had bad luck, the chance of reoccurance was zero..

So far so good I thouht.

Until feb.1996: Bingo... Reoccurence in both my eyes...This time I got

laser therapy. The growth of the abnormal blood vessels and the bleeding

stoped. I was told not to carry more than 10 kg, so I did the normal

things with my baby who was at that time 8.5 kg...

That was too heavy, water filled my eyes and for about 2 to 3 weeks I

lived in water.. Hardly any clear sight.

When the water bubbles went away I could see the world again! Lovely.

Only last year I found out that my sihgt was not 70 or 80% as I thought

but only 25-30%... Ever since that day I must admit that there are a lot

of things that have changed.

Now I am looking for people with histo, especially in my own country

because I want to start a POHS foundation here.

If you get any messages that might be of interest pleaseforward them to

me: pijpker.home@wxs.nl

Thanks and good luck with your battle against histo,

Annemieke Pijpker
