What I am doing with my time these days?

Here are the highlights of my lighing jobs last Winter.

  • The Santaland Diaries Opened November 7th at the Atlantic Theatre (336 W. 20th St. NYC), and will play thru January 5th.
I'd call it a wickedly funny portrayal of an Elf (played by Timothy Olyphant) in the employ of Macy's during holiday season. Adapted and directed by Joe Mantello from material in David Sedaris' book Barrel Fever, this show was presented by David Stone and Amy Nederlander-Case. The lighting was designed by Jan Kroeze, with my hopefully invaluable assistance. Set design was by Ian Falconer, costumes by Isaac Mizrahi, and sound by David Van Tiegham.

  • A Soldier's Play is in previews until November 19th, and will then run til January at Theatre Four, (424 W. 55th St. NYC).
Set in a segregated Lousiana army base during 1944, this play by Charles Fuller follows the progress of an investigation into the murder of a black sergeant, seemingly by local members of the Klan. Lawyer Captain Davenport, the first Black officer that any of the characters in this play have ever encountered, is sent to solve the mystery. When it appears that perhaps instead of the KKK, two white officers might be involved, things really get stirred up.

This is the second production on the Inaugural Season of The Valiant Theatre (A new Off-Broadway Company, produced by Herbert Biegel with Artistic Direction by Michael Murray; and Leon Denmark functioning as Managing Director). The show was directed by Clinton Turner Davis, with set and costumes by Felix Cochren, sound by Aural Fixation, and lighting by Dennis Parichy, with myself as Assistant Lighting Designer.

  • Christmas Revels will be performed in New York this year at Symphony Space (Broadway and 95th) during the 2nd week of December. I will reprise my role as Assistant Lighting Designer to John Michael Deegan.

That's what I am doing. Hope you can make it to see one or more of these events. If you wish to know more, write me at the address below.
