The 45 minute show was a compilation of Native American dances by men and women, including Traditional, Fancy, Jingle, and highlighting Mr. Swimmer's very popular Hoop Dance, for which he recently was depicted on a United States Postage Stamp.
Produced by the Carolina Playwrights Center, as an Equity-Approved Showcase, I collaborated as Lighting Designer with Playwright Carolyn Cole Montgomery, Director Nefertiti Burton, Set Designer Sal Perrotta, and Costume Designer Michael Moore.
This tour-de-force one woman show was created by and features Mary Setrakian, who toured with the National Companies of Hello Dolly, Evita and Les Miserables, and appeared on Broadway with Carol Channing in Hello Dolly. This piece was last performed at One Dream Theatre in Tribeca, NYC in March '96. I have been involved as lighting designer on it for two years, and am now also a full co-producer. We are hoping to take it to San Francisco next, but are still in negotiations for a theatre. Set Designer Sal Perrotta shows up again in my universe on this project.
