What I am doing with my time these days?

Here is a round-up of projects that are pretty recent.

Free Food and Frontal Nudity premiered in May at the People's Security Insurance Theatre at the Royall Center for the Arts, Durham, NC. A creation of book writer Boyd Graham and composer Jed Feuer, with lyrics by both, this wacky two man show, performed by the authors, is bound for a long commercial run in major cities, after it's trial run in North Carolina. It features a series of highlights from a fictitious Broadway Musical the two have supposedly written, presented in an impromptu setting to the audience who are unwittingly prospective investors in the most expensive show ever written for the stage. Directed by Mr. Graham, Choregraphed by Troy Garza, with Sound Design by Jonathan Gottlieb, and Lighting Design by Jeremy Kumin, the show opened next in San Francisco at the Cable Car Theatre in August and ran for 3 weeks. It is slated for production in Los Angeles next.

Show Boat, the triumphant revival directed by Harold Prince which ran for a couple of seasons on Broadway, is touring major cities in the U.S. and Cananda now. I am working as an Assistant Lighting Designer on some of those locales. I am grateful to the Lighting Designer, Richard Pilbrow, and Dawn Chiang, the Associate LD, for this opportunity to work on a very satisfying and technically challenging production.

I have worked on two major productions with lighting by Dennis Parichy, and myself as Assistant Lighting Designer so far this year.

The first was Sympathetic Magic, by Lanford Wilson. Directed by Marshall Mason, this ranfor almost three months at Second Stage Theatre, in Manhattan. The setting was designed by John Lee Beatty, the costumes by Laura Crow, and sound by Chuck London. This "A Team" of creative personnel is quite familiar with Wilson's plays, as they collaborated on most every one of them when they premiered over the last 20 years at Circle Rep.

Second, I assisted Dennis in transferring the Mark Taper Forum production of Athol Fugard's Valley Song to the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. It was directed by Mr Fugard, and Sets and Costumes were by Susan Hilferty. Sound was by Jonathan Gottlieb. This took place in Early May and it ran for about 4 weeks.

That's what I am doing. Hope you can make it to see some future events. If you wish to know more, write me at the address below.
