Costumes were designed by Michael Bottari and Ron Case. Musical Direction and Arrangements were by Scott Wooley. It featured the talents of a tremendous ensemble of singers and dancers, with cameo appearances by the legendary Margaret Whiting.
The Music and Lyrics were by various artists including greats like Johnny Mercer, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, and many others.
The opening overture was a high energy tribute to the six Big Bands that defined the era, and as each one's theme song started, a marquee lit up to show the name of the band and one of their frequent haunts.
The longest section was a medley of many different kinds of love songs, which told the stories of several different romances between the characters in the ensemble. As the sun sets on his romance, Marcus Neville sings Fools Rush In.
The "Love" section ended on a happy note, with the group number, Taking a Chance on Love
Act I finished with a Travel Sequence which included Chattanooga Choo Choo, Sentimental Journey, and The Acheson Topeka and the Sante Fe.
