A completely dysfuntional working class Queens family is having a cookout in their backyard on Labor Day weekend. The festivities are turned into a bizarre caricature of celebration by the unexpected return of the prodigal son from the navy. This dark brooding tragicomedy was shocking to some; it's not for the squeamish. This funny yet disturbing play explores how the sins of the father can come home to roost, and how abuse seems to perpetuate itself in repetive cycles.
My fourth project in the physical space, this marked my second production for this company. The prior one was their critically acclaimed production of Killer Joe in 1994. I got to collaborate again with Set Designer Sal Perrotta, a reprise from two other projects during the summer.
