4 a.m.

This is an important time -
the time before the light
when color is a memory
and forms are indistinct.
This is a time when
all that is shattered by the light
can heal and grow again.

For some it is a revelation
that we come from cores of light,
but before we were
brothers - sisters,
friends - enemies,
people - nations,
we were atoms in the night.

This is an important time -
the time before the light.
