On-line Project

Conrad Vogel's "Adult Coloring Book of the Civil War" was originally conceived as part of a prospective interactive art project involving manipulation of text and images by viewers. These revised images would eventually be shown at an art gallery or exhibit, much like a 19th century traveling art show, alongside my original art and text.

In the gallery installation people would be encouraged to manipulate selected images, perhaps cropping and focusing on one character, or writing their own text about the image. This text can be merely commentary, a totally new interpretation of issues of the Civil War, ideas about specific images in the art or new story.

I've selected one image which you're welcome to download, manipulate, and send back to be posted here on the site. After you've saved the image you can use a graphics program to manipulate it, or color the image with pencil, crayon, etc., and send us a copy. You can email it back to me as an attached file to: Conrad Vogel.
