Disorder

Early Disorder and Exhaustion

I can hardly believe it. It has been three months since we left New York City. We've just arrived in Southern Virginia near the coast. What I've seen these last months, no one had trained us for - these awful things of battle. We drummed them into battle four times. I've never seen so many people not come back. But more important, we're exhausted. The flies, hot weather, and muggy days are more than enough without the crocodiles. They ate two of our members last night, our first casualties. No wonder the Rebels are known as Crocodiles. They're everywhere. Richmond will have to wait awhile while we regroup what remains of our army.
