Marlin was born into this world on Friday, November 19th 1999 at 12:29 pm EST. Delivery was in Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, New York after 32 hours of labor.
Claudia was incredible, and we had excellent, sensitive care from the midwives and staff. I was labor support person #1 helping Claudia through what is undoubtedly the most challenging feat of human existence. The midwife, nurse and myself were the only attendants, and I was able to help "catch" the baby and hand him to Claudia for their first embrace. After a few minutes I cut the umbilical cord.
Marlin and his mother were discharged in good health on Saturday and we came home to get on with our new life as a family of four. Fortissima, our cat (now relegated to #4) is cautiously curious.
Though the Hospital policies allowed still and motion photography, I was under strict orders by the new mom not to pick up the cameras until "labor" was over. Below are the first recorded images of our child in chronological order.
Claudia and Marlin in the delivery room, just after the initial pediatric
exam. Age: about 20 minutes.
A closer shot of the little boy. Age: about 20 minutes.
Solitary confinement in the nursery for routine measuring, bathing,

Mother and son reunited in our private room for some R & R.
Age: about 6 hours.
Marlin in his infant restraint (carseat.) This was taken
Saturday evening at home, after his first ride in the vanagon. Age:

A little closer shot before we unpacked him. Age: about 31 hours.
Bundled in his crib for a nap. Age: about 32 hours.
Thanks for visiting and for all the support.
