Sunrise at Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, in the dead red
center of Northern Territory, Australia.
Photos can jar the imagination or the memory, but they can rarely
do justice to natural wonders such as mountains,
sunrises, and people. In real life, The Rock is bright
orange in the morning glow, as if it's been electrified. And being near
it during the dawn chorus is unexplainably spiritual.
It took a lot to get me to this point of my trip. I'm
as remote as I've ever been, and may ever be.
