I'm atop one of the numbered dunes at Sössusvlei, in the Namib desert of Namibia. It's just after dawn and the sunlight is reaching over the spine of the dune for the first time. Cameras cannot do justice to the caramel color of the sands; you simply have to be there for yourself. You can get an idea, though, of the sinew and sweep of the lines on the ridges of the surrounding dunes. This vista is the same 360 degrees around me.
