This may be the most perfect photo I've ever
taken of myself.
It's sunset in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India,
at the derelict Monsoon Palace, which overlooks the city and surrounding
landscape like a fairy-tale castle from a fierce-looking nearby mountain.
It's been abandoned for years, and to get into it, you have to baksheesh
your way past the policemen.
Well, it's sunset in what must have been
one of the palace's grand ballrooms. I saw this window and knew right away
what kind of photo it would make. My friend Roger snapped the shot.
It seems like another emblematic image for
my trip, doesn't it?
